Security Agents

The Security and Investigations Agents Act 2002 (the Act) and the Security and Investigations Agents Regulations 2002 (the Regulations) form the framework for the registration of licenses in Tasmania.

 

  1. Licence types
    Licences are issued for security, crowd control, inquiry agents and commercial agent or commercial sub-agents 

  2. Licence changes
    You must notify the office of any change to your registered personal or company details (e.g. address, name) and resignation or dismissal of your nominated manager. 

  3. Licence check
    When hiring a provider, you should check that they are properly licensed. 

  4. Legal requirements
    Information on inspections, restricted (provisional) licences, registers, identification requirements and carrying weapons.

  5. Breaches and penalties
    There are severe penalties for operating unlicensed in the industry.
