Regulatory Impact Statements (RIS)

A Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) is a decision making tool used by government which examines the economic and social costs and benefits of new regulation.  It analyses the necessity and efficiency of new regulations and any alternatives that may exist, and gives members of the community the opportunity to comment before a new law is made.
