The Security and Investigations Agents Act 2002 (the Act) and the Security and Investigations Agents Regulations 2002 (the Regulations) form the framework for the registration of security and investigations agents in Tasmania.
Any person (including a company) who carries on business or is employed to undertake the following activities must be licensed under the Act :

It is an offence to work within the security industry without holding the appropriate licence. A maximum penalty of $110,000 may apply. In addition to this penalty, a person who is not appropriately licensed may forfeit any entitlement to payment for any services rendered in the course of acting as an agent.
